THIRST Conference

  • First Baptist O'Fallon 1111 East Highway 50 O'Fallon, IL, 62269 United States (map)

THIRST is a 4-day conference that invites those who are spiritually dry to drink deeply from the living water of Christ.

We were meant to have an eternal relationship with the Lover of our souls, Jesus Christ. We were never meant to find our refreshment and purpose in the things of this earth, be they good or evil. God wants us to lay down the substitutes we’ve allowed to replace Him, and to refresh our vision to love Him with all that we are, to love our neighbors as ourselves, and, as we go forward, to complete the Great Commission.

Substitution Happens When We Start Looking to Anything Besides Jesus

From Sunday morning through Wednesday evening, the Life Action team will bring powerful preaching, refreshing worship, memorable testimonies, dynamic children and youth programs, and passionate prayer to our church. By carefully unpacking biblical texts related to loving God, loving people, understanding, and receiving God’s grace, turning from pride and sin, calling out for God’s help, and seeking Him wholeheartedly, the Life Action team will partner with our church leadership in casting a vision for living a revived, loving, powerful Christian life.

Prayer connects us to God’s presence and power. So, we are asking you to join with us for a 21-day prayer journey leading up to this special event. In Acts 2:42, Luke tells us of the four spiritual disciplines that the early Christians “continually devoted themselves” to. We are going to look at 3 of them over these 21 days: The Apostles’ Teaching (The Word of God), Fellowship, and Prayer.

Beginning Sunday, September 4, we’re sending out a weekly email containing 7 devotions to be read each day that week. FBCO Family…please choose to partner with us on this prayer journey, and let’s see what God would say to each of us as we walk with Him over the next 21 days!

Serving HIM with you,

Pastor Mark Jones

Schedule

There are five service times during this four-day period (one on Sunday morning and one each on Sunday through Wednesday evenings). The THIRST Conference is designed to provide optimum ministry to people ages four and up. THIRST provides specialized programs for children, youth, and adults so our entire church can experience this powerful time of refreshment. No one is left out . . . from children and young adults to newlyweds and grandparents. Imagine how God could change our church and community when every person is experiencing the same powerful message presented in age-appropriate ways!

Day of Prayer for FBCO & The THIRST Conference

September 24, 5AM - 12AM

As a church, let’s pray fervently for God to use the THIRST Conference to move within the lives of our people and bring revival to FBCO and our community. Commit to pray with us by signing up for a 30-minute time slot on this Day of Prayer.

Sunday Morning Services

September 25, 9:40 & 11AM

We will begin with our regular worship service schedule (9:40 & 11AM). Adults and teens start in the Worship Center. After a time of corporate worship, the teens will be dismissed to a separate location with the Life Action team’s youth leader. The team revivalist will follow with a time of prayer and the message. Children’s services will be held entirely in a separate location, led by Life Action team members.

Sunday - Wednesday Evening Services

September 25 - September 28, 6 - 7:30PM

During the evening services, 6 – 7:30PM, everyone ages four years and older will begin in the Worship Center (there will be childcare for children under 4). After announcements and a time of corporate worship, children and teens will be dismissed to their separate locations, and the team revivalist will bring the message.

Tuesday Morning Ladies’ Luncheon

September 27, 11:30AM - 1PM in the KidsLife Center | Sign up by 9/22

The True Woman Ladies’ Luncheon provides an opportunity for ladies to hear what God has to say about their roles as women, wives, mothers and grandmothers. Through the power of a life’s message, you will be touched by the transparency and openness of the Life Action revivalists’ wives during this time of sharing. KidsCare will be provided by reservation only. We will also have space for homeschooled children. Please bring a sack lunch for your children.

Programming for Children & Teens

NURSERY (Newborn–3 years old)
Available for all Sunday services, all weeknight services, and the Ladies’ Luncheon on Tuesday.

HAPPY HEART CITY (4 years old–Kindergarten)

Children will be welcomed to a city where teachers and various characters will reinforce the foundational theme that “Obedience Is the Key.” In addition to interactive drama, the children will enjoy creative lessons, crafts, songs, and activities.

BASE CAMP (1st–5th grades)

Upon entrance, children will embark on a unique experience as “climbers” training to pursue the ultimate adventure of knowing and loving God. Foundational character principles and Scripture will be presented through music, drama, interactive lessons, and activities.

STUDENTS (6th–12th grades)

These specialized sessions that complement the main sessions will help our youth think about how Jesus’ teachings apply to their daily lives. Life Action’s passion is to see teens awaken and start a movement that will change the course of this world for God’s glory.
