All children who have made a declaration that Jesus is their Lord and Savior, made a public confession of faith, are seeking to be baptized, or have responded during a time of invitation during one of our Worship Services at First Baptist O’Fallon (FBCO), are encouraged to attend our Starting Point for Kids Class.
As this material contains sensitive content, we ask that at least one parent attend each class with their child. We offer these classes throughout the year on Wednesday nights, beginning at 5:45PM. Starting Point meets in 2 sessions. To help keep the classes intimate, we limit the class size to 20 kids, so we encourage you to register your child early.
Topics that are covered in Starting Point include the necessary information to help your child grasp a better understanding of his or her decision to follow Christ. These include:
What is the Gospel?
What makes up the Church?
How does FBCO work?
Developing a Quiet Time
The Importance of Prayer
The Lord’s Supper
The Marks of a Disciple
Salvation & Baptism
Many children begin their journey toward salvation by asking questions. This usually happens long before they are ready to become a Christian. When your child asks questions, do your best to answer him or her as honestly as possible. Remember, you are developing his or her understanding of God as well as their spiritual maturity. You may hear questions like:
When can I get baptized?
Why do we go to church?
What is sin?
Why did Jesus have to die on a cross?
Always answer using Bible verses. Show them where it is and read it to them. We always want to point them back to the Word of God.
We are so excited for your child and want to celebrate this special moment with your family! We ask that all children who are interested in baptism schedule a one-on-one meeting with a pastor of FBCO. If you would like to schedule an appointment, use the button below to contact us today.
