Life Group Leaders,

Thank you for your patience as our staff has been out of the office this week from our Fall Retreat and I am currently on vacation.

As you know, we take great care to communicate well so please see this week as the exception and not the norm.

There is not a podcast this week but we will resume next week and will have lessons for the next several weeks in our Life Group Leader email.

Thank you!

Last week, we discussed the impact our Life Group can have on reaching people who are lost or far from God from Matthew 9. Hopefully, you passed out the Who's Your One cards for your group to take home, fill out and bring back this Sunday.

Each week, we publish a new podcast episode to help you lead your group and students to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Listen to Ep 04 where Bryson and Mariano discuss what it means and looks like to have a planning meeting with your group.

Life Group Discussion Guide

Hey, Life Group Leaders!

This past Sunday, we walked through the vision for what our Life Groups are going to be: A place for students to belong, believe and become. While this vision will carry us further than the next few weeks, over the next three weeks, we’re going to focus on three aspects of Life Group.

  • Week Two (Sept. 19) – Inward

  • Week Three (Sept. 26) – Impact

  • Week Four (Oct. 3) – Planning

Please keep in mind that week one – Strong Start, was covered this past week during Master Teacher (9:40am). As you pray, prepare and plan for your Life Group this week, please let us know how we can support you!

For 9:40am Life Group Leaders:

An issue we often face each week is groups dismissing too early or groups dismissing too late. This has caused consistent issues for both parents and other groups so we are asking that you dismiss your group no later than 10:50am. For those who end early, please do not have your group dismiss from your table until 10:45am.

You can structure your group like this:

  • 9:30am – Leaders Arrive

  • 9:30-9:55am – Conversation w/ Group

  • 9:55am – Announcements

  • 10:00am – Ice Breaker/Context/Scripture Reading

  • 10:15am – Discussion Questions & Now What

  • 10:35am – Prayer Requests

  • 10:45am – Students Dismissed

Please help us by adhering to this time frame. If your group is consistently going over your time, then 1) it may be time to discuss multiplying or 2) you may need to get creative with extending the Life Group time (ex. send prayer requests via text message throughout the week).

Each week, we publish a new podcast episode to help you lead your group and students to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

11am Life Group Returns 🎉

We are excited to share that our 11am Life Groups will be returning this Sunday morning! Please join us in praying for these groups as we relaunch this hour!

Life Group Discussion Guide

Hey, Life Group Leaders!

I believe that Life Groups has the potential to make the biggest, spiritual impact on a student’s life – at least this was true for my own life. Since March 2020, much of our efforts have been focused on surviving but now I believe the Lord has given us guidance on how to thrive and reach students who are not yet here!

This Sunday, September 12 we will have a Life Group Leader Meeting promptly at 9:40am in Gym Room 1 to discuss the future of our groups. This is a meeting that I am asking you make every effort possible to attend. If you will be gone, please let me know so we can arrange a time to call/video chat to discuss what we’re talking about – it’s that important!

Know that how we do Life Group is not changing, but instead, we’re going to talk about how we view Life Group and give us a vision for the future!

As always, anytime we have a leader meeting, our students will be doing a Master Teacher. During this time, Mariano will be sharing with them our new vision for Life Groups: belong, believe and become. Of course, this will be explained in greater detail this Sunday.

For those who like to look over material beforehand, below is all the material you will be given on Sunday and everything will be explained. Of course, you’re welcome to ask any questions beforehand!

PS – Please take a moment to complete the Life Group Pulse Check before our meeting on Sunday, September 12. This should take less than 3 minutes and is anonymous.

LIFE GROUP STARTER GUIDE

Whether you’ve been a Life Group Leader for five weeks or five years, all Life Group Leaders are going to walk through this material. This way, when new leaders join, we’ve all covered the same introduction material.

LIFE GROUP 4 WEEK DISCUSSION GUIDE

This four-week discussion guide will be used for new Life Groups we start as we move forward with the vision of multiplication. For now, all our Life Groups will go through this material in order to help us cast new vision for what Life Groups will be:

  • September 12 – Belong, Believe, Become

  • September 19 – Inward (Acts 2)

  • September 26 – Impact (Matthew 7)

  • October 3 – Planning (Who’s Your One?)

DISCIPLESHIP GROUP STARTER GUIDE

In the past, these would have been called “Community Groups” and while they had a brief impact, they seemed to lack in fulfilling what our students most needed - intentional discipleship. These groups are not an expectation for you but an opportunity to help students go further in their faith.

If you have any questions, please contact us at fbcostudent@fbcofallon.org and someone from the First Students Team will respond as soon as possible. Thanks!

Life Group Discussion Guide

Hey, Life Group Leaders!

How many of your students could tell someone the gospel according to the Bible? We’re not talking about knowing every verse, but able to share the basics. How can we thank God for the gospel when we don’t know what it is? Many students who love God don't know how to share the gospel and we want to change that!

Last week we talked about salvation and our testimony. This Sunday, we're continuing our four-week Life Group series with understanding who Jesus is, his purpose here and the world’s need for a Savior

Hey, Life Group Leaders!

Beginning this Sunday, we're going to approach our Life Group discussion guides a little differently. This Sunday, we're starting a new four-week Life Group series called Evangelism.

Hello, Life Group Leaders!

Unfortunately, the First Student Staff has been exposed to covid this past week and are currently in quarantine. Should Eden test negative, she should be available on Sunday morning but if not, please be patient and gracious.

Due to this exposure and exposure from other student ministry leaders, we will NOT be having Youth Night/Water Wars this Sunday night.

As a reminder, please keep in mind that we will be having a Life Group Leader meeting at 8:30am on Sunday, August 8 which will be our Promotion Sunday. Group assignments and further information will be sent as soon as we can.

Life Group Discussion Guide

How to Share The Gospel

This Sunday, we’re going to do something a little different with our Life Group lessons. Pastor Doug will be preaching from 2 Corinthians 2:14-17 and talking about “6 ways to spread the gospel” but to help expand the discussion, we will be learning from Mark 16:15-16.

The truth is, most students (and most Christians) do not know how to explain or share the gospel. This is a big problem! How can we share our faith when we don’t know it?

Inside of your Life Group folder will be an outline of the Romans Road to salvation. I highly encourage you to take the time to walk every student through it.

Even if everyone in your group is Christians, it reminds them of their salvation and teaches them how to share the gospel. If someone in your group isn’t a Christian, it presents the gospel to them clearly and plants a seed in their life.
