Custodian

PURPOSE

To serve the church by cleaning, performing routine and periodic maintenance, setting up space for ministries, maintaining the church buildings and offices to meet prescribed standards.

RESPONSIBLE TO

Facilities Manager

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow written and oral instructions related to cleaning, set up, and maintenance for items indicated, but not limited to, those listed below:

    • Vacuum, mop, shampoo, and clean floors as directed

    • Dust and wax furniture as scheduled

    • Sanitize bathroom fixtures and floors as scheduled

    • Sanitize and clean classrooms as indicated

    • Restock bathrooms and supplies as needed

    • Clean office complexes as scheduled

    • Wash windows and dust blinds as scheduled

  • Set up classrooms as required to support regular and special programming

  • Conduct routine maintenance as scheduled

  • Conduct repairs as needed or assigned

  • Notify supervisor of damage observed or repairs needed

  • Maintain grounds as scheduled

  • Secure buildings when assigned, including setting alarms

  • Perform as a team member with other custodial staff

CRITERIA

  • A committed Christian willing to facilitate spiritual growth and maturity in self and others

  • Evidence of maturity, ability to follow through, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Commitment to confidentiality as it relates to the church membership and to the church organizational operation

  • Strong physical condition which will support manual labor

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds

  • Experience in the field of church custodial work is desirable
