“People have seen Your procession, God, the procession of my God, my King, in the sanctuary. Singers lead the way, with musicians following…” -Psalm 68:24 - 25a HCSB
Have you sung in a choir before? Do you match pitch, and are able to learn and retain harmonies? We would like to invite you to join our Worship Choir. Open to High School Juniors and Seniors, and Adults 18+, this group assists in leading congregational worship at our Traditional and Blended services each Sunday. We also present special pieces 2-3 times monthly featuring a wide range of styles.
Our Worship Choir rehearses every Wednesday night from 7:00 – 8:20pm, with the exception of the Fall Semester, where we split the rehearsal into two parts: Worship & Christmas from the first Wednesday after Labor Day, until the Christmas Production. There is also an annual Choir Retreat to learn the Worship Choir specials.
This year’s Worship Choir retreat is Friday, September 13. At this concentrated time of rehearsing, we break down into sectionals (Soprano & Alto, or Tenor & Bass) to learn the music. We welcome you to add your vocal talent to this loving group of people serving in this vital ministry.
For Christmas, we present an original production called GETTING IN THE CHRISTMAS MOOD℠ that features music from artists such as Pentatonix, Straight No Chaser, Nat King Cole and Trans-Siberian Orchestra, to name a few. This production combines the power of a large choir and the energy of a Big Band to create a night of unforgettable, fun-filled music for the entire community to enjoy. We also feature OTHS’s award winning drumline and color guard on several select numbers.
We begin Christmas rehearsals on Wednesday, September 4. Beginning on that date, our Wednesday night rehearsal will be:
Worship Choir 7:00 - 7:40PM
Christmas Choir 7:40 - 8:20PM
There will also be a concentrated time of Christmas music rehearsal at our annual Choir Retreat. This is scheduled for Saturday, September 14, from 9:00AM until 3:00PM.
If interested, come on out and be a part of this special outreach event. “Getting in the Christmas Mood” will be presenting its 18th version to the public on Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 14. Concert times are Friday at 7PM and Saturday at 3 & 7PM. Doors open up 45-minutes prior to each performance. This is a free concert.
